Who we are

TP Info is an independent UK consumer editorial resource. The data controller for this website is the publisher of TP Info in the United Kingdom. For correspondence about your personal data, please write to the editorial desk using the address on the contact page and mark your envelope or email “data-protection request”.

What personal data we process

TP Info is designed as a lightweight editorial resource that does not require reader accounts. In normal use we do not collect personal data other than the minimum server log needed for security and uptime monitoring. Server logs include: your IP address, the URL you visited, the timestamp of the visit, and the user-agent string sent by your browser. Logs are used for aggregate statistics and for investigating abusive traffic; they are not used to build a profile of individual readers.

If you contact the editorial desk by email or by post, we process the personal data you choose to send us (typically a name, an email address or a postal address, and the content of your message). We use that information solely to reply to you and to keep an audit trail of published corrections.

Lawful basis under UK GDPR

We rely on two lawful bases for processing personal data. The first is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) for security and uptime monitoring of the website. The second is legitimate interests for handling editorial correspondence: we cannot reply to a reader query without processing the reader’s contact details. Where a query requires us to store data for longer than the immediate reply, we rely on the same basis but subject to the retention limits below.

Retention

Server access logs are retained for thirty days and then automatically discarded. Editorial correspondence is retained for the greater of two years or the period reasonably required to maintain a corrections audit trail. Personal data included in a correction note is anonymised in the published version.

Data sharing and international transfers

TP Info does not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with advertisers, marketing networks, or gambling operators. Hosting services and email providers are engaged as data processors under a written contract; personal data is processed within the UK or the European Economic Area under adequacy arrangements applicable at the time of writing.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccurate data, to request erasure in defined circumstances, to object to processing, and to obtain a copy of the data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, write to the editorial desk using the address on the contact page and identify yourself sufficiently for us to verify your identity.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe we have not handled your data lawfully. Details of the ICO complaints route are published on the ICO website.

Changes to this notice

We refresh this notice at least annually and whenever a change in our processing practices requires it. The “last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent substantive change. Material changes are announced on the contact page for a period of 30 days after the change is made.
